Walk 2:  Lynnshield Waterfall                                                 Saturday 22nd April 2023

This walk is accessible for those staying in Haltwhistle without a car as it begins and ends in the Market Place.

By train to Haltwhistle: (www.northernrailway.co.uk)

By bus to Haltwhistle: (www.stagecoachbus.com)

This walk also takes in a waterfall but is a little closer to home and much easier to access than Cauldron Snout! (Walk 1).  From the Market Place we walk downhill to cross the Tyne Bridge over the River South Tyne and follow a riverside path through woodland. We then cross farmland  and take a beautiful stone bridge to recross the river. After a short flight of steps, we continue uphill, across farmland and another wooded area, to reach the South Tyne Trail. After a short distance, we leave the Trail to turn towards Lynnshield Farm. From here, we follow the picturesque Park Burn to the waterfall. This is a pretty, tranquil spot to take five minutes before continuing our journey over common land to reconnect with the South Tyne Trail. From here, it is a gentle stroll back towards Haltwhistle.
