The starting point for this walk is accessible by public transport.

By train to Bardon Mill - Newcastle to Carlisle route: (www.northernrailway.co.uk)

By 685 bus – Newcastle to Carlisle route: (www.stagecoachbus.com)

From Bardon Mill, we walk along quiet lanes to reach the small village of Beltingham with its ancient yew trees in the churchyard. We then move into open countryside and cross the Allengreen and Willimoteswick Burns, heading downhill before turning to walk through Haughstrother Woods. From here, we pass by the Ancient Scheduled monument of Willimoteswick Castle before returning to Bardon Mill.

Distance:  Approx 7 miles                Grade: 2, Moderate                     Ascent/Descent: Approx 640 ft

Meet: 10:00 Bardon Mill, outside Bowes Hotel (Post code: NE47 7HU)

Parking: Please park considerately opposite the cricket field or outside the village and allow time to walk to the starting point.
