Walk 7: Colwell and Hallington Reservoir Monday 24th April 2023
This is one of our most popular walks, taking in a charming area of Northumberland. We leave the village of Colwell and head up to Blue Crags Hillfort, a defended settlement of Iron Age/Romano-British date. Continuing north, we reach shrunken mediaeval remains which include the Tower and Fishpond of Little Swinburn, dating back to 1296. We are now in Border Raiders countryside. We follow the Carriers’ Lane south towards the end of the reservoir at Hallington then walk west along the southern edge of the reservoirs, through farmland, back towards Colwell.
