Walk 14:  Cumbria Rocks! (Special Interest Walk)                Wednesday 26th April 2023

Our local geologist, Ian Jackson, was so popular last year that we just had to invite him back! Learn (and be entertained) more about the rocks at the very edge of the northern Pennines near Hallbankgate, just over the border in Cumbria. From the car park at Geltsdale RSPB, Ian will lead us along a circular route to the east of Talkin Fell, taking in a landscape where every rock-type has been quarried or mined and then transported by a pioneering railway system. There are a couple of steep ascents to negotiate but the views and the knowledge gained will be well worth the effort.

Distance: Approx 6.5 miles           Grade: 3, Energetic                         Ascent/descent: Approx 800 feet

Meet: 10:00 at Clesketts Car Park, RSPB Geltsdale, Forest Head, Cumbria. CA8 (GR: NY588587)

Fee: £15    Places: 20

Bring: Packed lunch; extra layers for standing and listening.

Please remember to read the THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW before booking.
