Walk 16: Corbridge, Castles and Kilns Thursday 27th April 2023
This figure of eight walk starts in the attractive town of Corbridge and takes in two castles, some kilns, a famous author’s house and a pig in a churchyard! We begin by crossing the narrow pack bridge which spans the River Tyne and follow a route through the town. We then stride out over open countryside to reach Aydon Castle, a fortified mediaeval manor house. A gentle climb takes us to Halton and our second castle. We then pass the kilns before looping around to walk across open access land before returning to the start by way of open countryside and quiet lanes.
