Walk 18:  St Oswald’s Way – Day 2.  Felton to Rothbury      Friday 28th April 2023

After parking in Rothbury, a coach will take us to the starting point at Felton, the village where Oliver Cromwell is supposed to have stayed on his way to the Battle of Dunbar. We continue to follow the beautiful River Coquet, skirting woodland before a gentle climb to Carr’s Island.  Moving on, we walk through Weldon Wood, pass under the A697 and through riverside woodland. The River Coquet stays with us as we cross the ominously named ‘Devil’s Causeway’, the route of an old Roman Road, through farmland to eventually reach the appealing village of Rothbury.
