We continue Isaac’s trail on day two. We walk through Nenthead and continue along the River Nent tasting this area’s industrial past. We arrive in Alston, the highest market town in Northern England, where the South Tynedale Railway path takes us to Randalholm. Leaving the river, we go up to the mining area at Ayle and then to Clargill Hall. An uphill track takes us to our bus on the A686.
This walk is suitable for anyone staying in Haltwhistle without a car; a coach leaves and returns to Haltwhistle Market Place.
