Yes, there really is a place called Muggleswick and this walk gives you the opportunity to go there! Starting in the picturesque village of Edmundbyers we climb up to a trig point at the top of Stoterly Hill with its fine views over Edmundbyers and the surrounding hills. Walking on eastwards over the fells of Muggleswick Park we reach the historic village of Muggleswick and pass a very interesting church on the way. The church itself is worth a visit as it provides information about the nearby curiously named railway line – Nanny Mayer’s Incline. Leaving Muggleswick we walk back along quiet lanes and paths, crossing the Burnhope Burn to return to our original starting point.
