Description: Starting in the village of Hartburn this walk descends through some charming woods to reach a curious, hidden construction from the late 18th Century. Walking onwards across fields and woodland we then climb to reach another folly, Rothley Castle, built in the style of a medieval castle. From here we can enjoy commanding views over the surrounding countryside, including the neighbouring windfarms. Leaving Rothley Castle we then turn south, over the crags and through meadows to arrive at the village of Middleton from where we follow quiet lanes and fields back to our starting point.
