We meet at Tyne Green, alongside the River Tyne at Hexham. We follow the river upstream, to the point at which the North and South Tyne combine to flow together into Hexham, and eventually out into the North Sea. Here, at Waters’ Meet, we continue along the southern bank of the South Tyne to Bridge End, where we cross to head up towards Warden Hill. We climb to the top, for splendid views of the valleys of the North Tyne and the Tyne itself, down into Hexham and beyond. We continue through farmland to Newbrough, where we follow the South Tyne back towards Hexham.
This walk may be undertaken by anyone staying in Haltwhistle without a car; trains leave Haltwhistle for Hexham approximately every thirty minutes. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Tyne Green is a short walk northwards from Hexham railway station. Please note, it is your responsibility to get to the start point on time.
