Walk 10: Roman Tracks and The Mysterious Stone
This walk from Bardon Mill in the South Tyne valley meanders its way up to a mysterious standing stone on the fell above Vindolana Roman Fort.
This is an amazing viewpoint where the sheer scale of the fort can be seen from a ‘birds eye perspective’. We then head northwards for Hadrian’s Wall, walking above Crag Lough and along to the highest point on The Wall at Winshield Crags (1132 feet). descent takes us through an area where Roman camps were situated, past Vindolanda and through woodland with a former industrial heritage.
