Walk 19: Walkin’ and Talkin’

Our most western route in this year with some steep gradients packed into a short circuit.

We start from the delightful village of Castle Carrock and head east before a fairly steep climb to the stunning viewpoint of Talkin Fell with an intriguing array of vertical stone curricks along its rim.  On a clear day we can see all the way to the Lake District, Dumfries & Galloway, and Hadrian’s Wall.  We return via the unusual-named village of Talkin then an easy mile and a half back to Castle Carrock.
