Walk 2: Legends and Tales
This short walk meanders along the South Tyne and takes in the two castles of Featherstone and Bellister, now private residences.
Both date from the 14th century and share tempestuous times over the centuries. Learn as you go about the sad tale of Abigail de Featherstonehaugh and her spurned lover – and the mysterious Grey Man of Bellister. Pass by the site of the 20th century German PoW camp and return along the former South Tyne railway to the calmer modern times of Haltwhistle.
