Walk 26: Howay Back to Halty
A linear route downhill almost all the way! It winds its way across farmland and moorland with destination Haltwhistle getting ever closer.
Just short of Bellister Castle, we join a disused railway line for an easy mile or so to the river South Tyne. Here we cross the river and make our way to the centre of Haltwhistle along the back of some of the town’s most impressive houses. This last section coincides with the end of today’s Pennine Way Day 3 walk. Their route is longer, but they set off earlier, so keep an eye out for them as you approach the town. Welcome back to Halty!
