Walk 9: Hadrian’s Wall Rocks! (Special Interest Walk)

So sorry that this walk can no longer go ahead but it will be back again next year at Haltwhistle Walking Festival 26th April – 5th May 2025!

This walk is accessible by AD122 bus from Haltwhistle and Hexham.

Ice, fire and water have all had a hand in creating our local landscape. Join Ian Jackson, local geologist and author of the best-selling book, Northumberland Rocks, and travel back in time with him to explore how ancient rocks have created an outstanding landscape which is now designated as a World Heritage Site.

There are a couple of steep ascents to negotiate but the views and the knowledge gained will be well worth the effort.

Distance: Approx 6 miles

Ascent/Descent: Approx  660 feet

Grade: 2, Moderate

Meet: 09:50 for 10:00 start at The Sill Landscape and Discovery Centre for an introductory presentation.
